"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most space in your heart." It's that moment when a picture says more than words ever will. It's that moment that only you exist. That one split second you forget the world is spinning and all you feel is the pulse in your veins, the depths of your soul, and the love in your heart. These are the moments that take your breath away. These are the moments photography captures. A way of feeling, loving, and touching. What is caught on film is captured forever. It remembers little things, little moments, and the most important feelings long after you have forgotten everything else.
My Story
I have never been one who was great with words. But, I am great when it comes to pictures. When I was a child I had a fascination with art. Everywhere I went I had a sketch book in hand. In my middle school and high school years I experimented with more types of mediums (oils, water colors, charcoal), but my love for the art of photography didn't develop until my late twenties. In fact, prior to immersing myself in photography classes, researching countless "how-to's," and practicing relentlessly I was a teacher. I loved it. And, I still do. I am still fascinated by child development, how the brain works, how psychology and educational theory play a part in the development of people and the dynamics of a family. I guess this is why I am enamored with lifestyle photography. Particularly, with children, teens, and family. I love to learn new things and am a complete information junkie. But, what really gets me, is what I wrote above. The meaning of the "smallest things" never hit me until the birth of my first daughter. Prior to that my plans were a little different. I was going to have two children, get my Ph.D and be the world's greatest teacher and autism interventionist. My plans and outlook have since changed. Now I still have something extraordinary-maybe not the Bill Gates kind of extraordinary-but something worth just as much and just as valuable. I am loving another with all my heart and soul. I have three amazing daughters that opened me to places I never knew existed and I have every reason, hope, and dream to live every day like it is the greatest day on earth. For all of this, I have to thank my husband.
